Well I headed to the shops today to catch up with a friend but didn't get there. Waiting at the lights, smoke started pouring out of the bonnet then into the car. I pulled onto the medium strip and got my two baby girls out as quick as possible. I didn't know it was actually a fire at that point coz I've been having a few smoky issues with the dip stick popping out and a leak somewhere but those fumes were toxic so just wanted the girls away from it asap. Then the smoke changed colour and went thick so knew it was a fire then. Thankfully a guy stopped and had a fire extiguisher. Anyway so the VS is a right off now but the girls and I are fine thankfully. Hopefully insurance pays out fine and I can buy something prettier with more grunt (clubby, ss, senator). Glad you and the kids are ok.The popping dipstick means your oil pressure was too high,usually caused by a blocked PCV valve.

Thanks guys, yeah the girls and I are fine. Got out fast enough for the fumes not to have an effect and I made sure everyone was calm about it so the girls didn't freak out or anything. I'm just had a bit of trouble getting to sleep thinking about it last night but that's all :).
We're not sure what caused the fire, looks electrical possibly. The insurance company are taking the car away tomorrow and the assesor will call me so all is moving well with that. I'm hoping we can get a small loan so I can get a VT clubby or a VY SS. If not then we'll save a bit and get a VS SS. I dunno. Going to Marooka later in the week or weekend to see what they have to offer, some nice ones on carsales at the moment :).
